He Is Not Just Your Boss "Passthe salad Christina." Hera overhead Martha's voice as she approached the dinner area with Bryce trailing behind her. She entered to see that they had prepared a grand feast for dinner. They've never really had a huge dinner such as this one before so she already knew that they went all out because of Bryce. They wanted to make a good first impression to her boss. "You're here." Christina squealed happily. "Cand sit next toHera." She tapped an empty space next to her and after giving Bryce a brief glance, she walked towards the empty seat and lowered herself on it.
Bryce felt conflicted. He was banking on sitting next to Hera for dinner and maybe for the rest of the night but he doesn't see that happening anytsoon. Hera was with her family and they'd probably want to spend more twith her since they haven't seen her in a long time. It would be selfish of him to try and get in between that and besides, it'll only be for a couple of days and Hera would be back with him again so for now, he'd have to endure the pain that cwith this painful, temporary separation.
"You can seat next toBryce." Sister Martha called out to him and he obediently obliged. He couldn't say no to her even if he wanted to. She seemed nice and plus, she was one of the reasons why he got to meet his Hera and for that, he was internally grateful. "The food might not be what you're used to at hbut take it from me, it's very delicious and you will definitely like it." She assured him, her fingers going up to her face to adjust her glasses.

"Hera toldhow she learned from you and every dish she has ever made foris a hundred percent satisfying so i can definitely vouch for you if you askto." He added, his eyes glazing over Hera warmly. She ducked her head shyly at his words and reached out to grab the plate that has been offered to her by Christina.
"So Hera, how has work been over there?" Sister Theresa threw her a knowing question. "Have you been doing okay? I know how difficult it must be staying in the big city all by yourself without your family by your side." "Work has been going great and i made sfriends over there. Plus..." She trailed off. "My boss has been really nice. He takes care ofand makes sure that i don't encounter any difficulty throughout my stay there." Bryce dug into his food with a broad smile on his face. She was talking about him to her family and it really felt nice. "What about your plans to go back to school?" Martha asked out of the blue. "You've always talked about how you would want to go back to college and start something for yourself. How are you going on with that plan? Anything in motion yet?" Hera flushed a little. "For now, I'm still trying to get accustomed to my job and how the city works but with time, I'd make a plan on that. I'd still need to gather a lot of funds for college and we all know it's not easy." "I'm glad that you're still thinking about that. It makesincredibly happy and with the lord's help, it will happen so never loose hope my dear. We're all rooting for you." Theresa said in quiet consolation.
"And don't forget to pray about it in church tomorrow alright?" Martha encouraged Hera. "It's detriment that you do, so that God will guide your path and teach you the right one to follow." "Thank you sister Martha and yes, i will." "I also can't wait for you to hit it big so that i can cover to stay with you in the big city." Christina sulked. "Don't forget that you promised me." With the way she spoke, one would think that she was a child but she was an adult who was still innocent to the harsh realities of the world.
"I know and i still intend on keeping that promise." Hera assured her with a smile. Christina reached out for the meat on her plate and fed it to King. Bryce looked surprised to see that he had been hiding there all these while. Dinner went smoothly apart from the occasional chitchatting that went around the table. They were mostly talking about the Thanksgiving service tomorrow and how they planned it to go. Bryce also got to learn that it was one of the biggest events to happen at the convent and they kept telling him how happy they were that he would be in attendance.
"Hope the food is to your liking?" Martha asked Bryce and he replied with a nod.
"Thank you." Dinner finally cto an end and after cleaning up, Martha requested that Hera visited her in her studies. Hera didn't know why Martha had requested that all of a sudden but she simply obeyed. She was like her mother and besides, she couldn't avoid seeing her even if she didn't want to.
"Sister Martha?" Hera called out to her with a tiny but persistent knock on her door.
"Cin my child." Martha permitted and Hera gently pulled the door knob, pushing the door open as she let herself in. She shut the door behind her and approached Martha's desk where she was asked to take a seat.

"Do you need any help?" "Not really." She answered. "I've been organizing my study and I think that will be all for now. How have you been my child?" She asked. Heraet would've sworn that she had asked the squestion on the dinner table earlier so why was she asking it again? "I wanted to speak to to ask about your well-being and i didn't want to do it in front of everyone. I wanted to have a special bonding twith you and i figured that since we would be busy tomorrow, why not do it now. I hope you don't mind."
Hera shook her head vigorously. "No.
No, I don't." Hera felt somewhat scared and guilty as shewas seated in front of Martha. She felt like the woman could see right through her and it showed. "Has the city been treating you nicely my child?" She asked in a calming tone as her eyes were fixated on Hera.
"It hasn't been all rosy but its been good." She casted her eyes to the ground.
"And your boss?" She muttered out of the blue forcing Hera to look at her. "Has he been treating you nicely too or are you only saying all those good things about him to cover for him."
"Bryce is very nice. He is a good man." A pause and then. "You know that i can never really hide the truth never really from you Sister Martha. If he was a bad man then you would've known even before I opened my mouth to say anything." "He takes care ofand makes sure that i don't get into trouble." Hera's eyes lit up as she spoke about Bryce. A smile casted on her face as well. "He looks out forand-" "You are in love with him aren't you?"
Martha dropped the bombshell forcing Hera to pause in her words "He is not just your boss Hera or is ΝΟ he? She asked again but this twith intent that told Hera that there was definitely no escaping this time.
