Chapter 95 Franklin stood up without another word and walked toward the stairs.
After a brief pause, Levi smiled and said. "Well it's definitely more sincere for Franklin to call her." It was true that when a child asked, the tone could coff as too perfunctory.
Ihlia also understood this logic.
However, she wasn't overly concerned. After all, Franklin's purpose was simply to report to the old lady. Him going upstairs to call Maggie didn't mean anything more. Franklin had never had any feelings for Maggie, and it was even less likely now.
Isabella, on the other hand, was anxious. She tightly pursed her lips, clearly worried.
She was afraid that if Franklin went upstairs to call her, her mother might actually cdown. After all, her mother was the most likely to listen to her father.
Back in her room, Maggie had ordered sfood and was busy working on her computer.
After a while, she heard the sound of a door opening.

Thinking he had just returned to fetch something, she gave him a cursory glance and then returned her attention to her work.
But before she could continue typing, Franklin spoke.
"The bonfire feast downstairs is quite lively. Would you like to cdown and join us?" Maggie paused.
Just like Levi, she also thought Franklin had only cupstairs to invite her as a way of placating the old lady. It didn't mean anything more than that.
And even if it did mean something, she didn't care anymore.
"I still have work to do, so I won't be coming down," she replied. Then, as if to reassure him, she added, "Don't worry. If Grandma asks, I'll make sure to cooperate." Upon hearing this, Franklin gave her a fleeting smile. His deep, intense gaze lingered on her for a moment.
Maggie, noticing his gaze, felt a slight unease. Though they had known each other for many years and had been married for so long she often felt like she didn't truly understand him. His emotions always seemed veiled, and she couldn't help but wonder what was going on inside his mind.
In the past, she might have tried to probe into his thoughts, but now....

ry asked with a hint of curiosity, "She didn't cdown?" "No." Franklin replied shortly.
Then, he turned to the staff and said, "Please bring a portion of the barbecue, pancake, and the salad to the room for my wife." Julia's lips tightened at the mention of "my wife." Maggie not coming downstairs and Franklin having food delivered to her room didn't really signify anything.
But still...
She didn't like how he called Maggie "my wife." It made it seem like he was acknowledging that she was his wife, even though, for all intents and purposes, they didn't share any true emotional bond.
However, after a moment's thought, she realized that the staff probably didn't know Maggie's name. If he hadn't referred to her as "my wife," who would know who the food was being delivered to? Maggie was starting to feel hungry.
She heard the doorbell ring and opened it to find the staff standing there with her meal.

"Well, at least he's got a bit of conscience," Johnny joked.
Maggie didn't want to delve into it too much. She understood that this was just an attempt by Franklin to appease her grandmother, not m because he was concerned about her. Seeing that she had eaten to the point of being full and the meeting twas drawing near, Maggie stopped eating, asked the staff to clear the table, and moved her laptop away..
