of the young boy. She was surprised by the striking resemblance he had with his father.
She waved at him and called out, "Little boy, cover here."
Jasper looked at her and asked, "Why should | listen to you?"
He was certain that Vanya was not a good person since she was locked up.
Vanya was stunned, but she did not give up and asked, "Is Joseph your father?"
"Yeah," Jasper replied, feeling like this was not a secret.
"What about your mother?"
Jasper's face sank as he replied indifferently, "I don't have a mother."
Vanya was taken aback by his response. She wanted to ask more questions, but Jasper had already run away.

The sky grew dark and night descended.
As Joseph drove along the highway, the trees on either side flashed by in a blur. He rolled down the windows to
let in the cold air, hoping it would clear his mind. However, instead of calming him, it filled him with even more
thoughts of Chloe. Thinking about how he had misunderstood her all those years ago, he felt an intense pain that
made his fingers tremble.
"Daddy, I'm cold..." Jasper mumbled sleepily from the back seat where he was curled up in a ball.
Joseph looked at his son through the rearview mirror and furrowed his brows. "Sorry, I'll close the windows now."
"Are you okay, Daddy?"
"I'm fine."
"Okay..."
"Once we're back home, you head off to bed first. | have sthings | need to do.”
