"I lost." Emeret lowered his head and struggled to utter those words.
Though reluctant, he had to admit the gap between him and Glenn was too wide to ignore. Continuing the fight wouldn't just mean defeat, but he might end up losing his life for nothing.
"You did well to withstand my strikes and still be standing," Glenn remarked coldly before leaving the battle ring. Emeret's skills were decent, but they barely piqued his interest.
"Congratulations to contestant number two, Glenn Hadley, for his victory." Oron quickly announced the results.
In an instant, the spectators erupted into thunderous applause. Though the match was brief, the explosive clash had captivated everyone, especially Glenn's overwhelming strength, which left a lasting impression in their minds.
If he didn't draw his sword, things would have been fine. But the impact was nothing short of earth-shattering and unmatched once he drew it.
"What a pity." Alloy shook his head in mock disappointment from the main spectator seat.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIt would have been ideal if Glenn's strike had killed Emeret earlier. The Sword Union would lose a genius, which could spark internal conflicts. That was precisely the chaos the Celestial Alliance would love to see.
"Mr. Marshall, my disciple isn't dead. But you seem rather disappointed." Cyrus looked at him coldly.
"Mr. Hadley, you seem to misunderstand. I was just reminded of something sad," Alloy replied with a smile that didn't reach his eyes.
"Really?" Cyrus sneered. "Well, I think you might feel even more sorrow soon." "Oh? What do you mean?" Alloy raised an eyebrow.
"Soon, you'll know the pain of losing a disciple." A cold gleam shone in Cyrus's eyes.
"Let's not count our losses or victories too soon, Mr. Hadley." Alloy sneered.
"Let's see how this plays out," Cyrus smirked.
He had unwavering confidence in Glenn. If Fenley faced Glenn, he might not be killed immediately, but he could very well end up crippled. It would dampen the spirit of the Celestial Alliance if that happened.
After the second match ended, it was tfor a break. However, there wouldn't be any intermission performances this tbecause the battle ring was badly damaged.
In the center was a deep pit, surrounded by massive cracks that spread like a spider web. From a distance, it seemed almost impossible to find an intact spot, which was quite frightening.
Even though the arena was made of specially reinforced materials and could be repaired, it still required time. About an hour later, the repairs were complete. Once the materials fused and solidified, the ring looked brand new without signs of the previous destruction.
Though this was the first tSacred Wrym Summit hosted the Combat Tournament, it was clear they had made thorough preparations.
"Sorry to keep everyone waiting." After a brief pause, Oron stepped onto the battle ring.
He continued, "Next up is the third match. I'm sure everyone has been looking forward to this. Please welccontestant number three, Abigail Robinson, and contestant number six, Zane Soren, to the ring." 1 As soon as he finished speaking, the spectators erupted into enthusiastic applause.
Abigail needed no introduction. As the Grand Sorceress of the Mystic Arts Order, she ranked second on the Legendary List. She had already demonstrated her formidable strength in her previous match against George.
As the only woman to reach the top eight, she was even more popular than Dalen. Besides the Legendary List, she also made her mark on the Beauty Ranking with her stunning looks. Though she ranked slightly below Alicia, she was still an exceptional beauty.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWith her impressive strength and stunning looks, it wasn't surprising that men were captivated by her. Even many of the female spectators had becher ardent fans.
In contrast, Zane from the Embraco Order had a solid reputation. He cfrom a prestigious guild and had performed well in previous matches. However, he paled in comparison to Abigail's strength and popularity.
As they stepped onto the battle ring, there was no idle chatter. After exchanging a brief salute, the fight began immediately.
Abigail was a master of voodoo skills, and her strength was just as formidable. On the contrary, Zane excelled in spells and enhanced his techniques with impressive sword skills.
If it were purely a battle of spells, the Embraco Order might have an edge over the Mystic Arts Order. However, such advantages only applied when both sides were evenly matched in strength.
The gap between Abigail and Zane was anything but minor. One was an ultimate grandmaster, While the other was merely a grandmaster. Such a disparity in levels couldn't be bridged by spells alone. Even without using spells, her cultivation was sufficient to overpower him effortlessly. As a result, there was no suspense in this match.
Zane gave it his all but still couldn't land a blow on Abigail. When she began her counterattack, it took her only three moves to defeat him. This outcdidn't cas a surprise.
Taking on a top elite from the Legendary List posed a tremendous challenge for an ordinary expert. This was especially true when facing someone like Abigail, who ranked third on the list.
From the moment the two were chosen to face each other, it was clear this match held no suspense.
After the third match concluded, it was tfor the fourth and final match in the quarterfinals. The matchups didn't need to be m announced. Everyone knew who was set to face off because only Dustin and Caleb had yet to fight.
